Where the numbers come from
- Model A — a rank-band table built on Theresa Ragan's published sales-versus-rank chart, the basis of Kindlepreneur's calculator.
- Model B — TCK Publishing's curve fit (Amazon.com only).
- The two agree within about ±25% between ranks #1,000 and #10,000 and diverge sharply outside #500–#50,000, which is why confidence drops there.
Reading a rank correctly
- Amazon says rank reflects a book's activity relative to other books and updates at least daily.
- For Kindle books, Kindle Unlimited borrows are widely reported to count toward rank — so “units” mixes sales and borrows. Amazon does not document this.
- One reading can capture a one-day spike (a promotion or ad burst). Check the same book on several days.
