KDP royalty calculator (2026)

eBook and paperback royalties per sale, with the price bands and printing costs on KDP's pricing pages as of 25 September 2026. The 70% eBook band on Amazon.com is now $2.99–$12.99 (it was capped at $9.99 until 7 July 2026).

How KDP eBook royalties are calculated

• 70% plan: 0.70 × (list price − VAT − delivery cost). Delivery is charged per megabyte of the converted file ($0.15/MB on Amazon.com). Only inside the store's price band, only to buyers in eligible countries, and the eBook must be at least 20% cheaper than any print edition.
• 35% plan: 0.35 × (list price − VAT). No delivery cost; minimum price depends on file size.
• In Brazil, India, Japan and Mexico the 70% plan needs KDP Select enrolment. EU list prices include VAT (e.g. 7% in Germany); royalties are computed on the price without it.

Paperback royalties

Royalty = rate × list price − printing cost. The rate is 60% at or above $9.99 (£7.99, €9.99) and 50% below that since 10 June 2025. Black-ink printing on Amazon.com costs a flat $2.30 up to 110 pages, then $1.00 + $0.012 per page (regular trim). KDP said printing fees will not change in 2026.
