Free KDP keyword tool
Type a genre, trope or topic the way a reader would. We read Amazon.com's live search suggestions and tell you which phrases are safe for your KDP keyword boxes.
What KDP forbids in keywords
From KDP's keyword guidelines — the tool flags these automatically:
- Other authors' names and other books' titles (fine as Amazon Ads targets, never as KDP keywords).
- Brands and trademarks you don't own (Harry Potter, Disney, For Dummies…).
- Amazon programme names: “Kindle Unlimited”, “KDP Select”.
- Time-sensitive words (“new”, “on sale”) and quality claims (“best”, “bestseller”, “#1”).
- Quotation marks, HTML, and words already in your title, subtitle or categories.
How to use the results
- Run 2–4 seeds. Keep phrases marked “Keyword boxes” that honestly describe your book.
- Mix a few strong head terms with specific long-tail phrases.
- Fill the seven boxes (up to 50 characters each) without repeating title words.
Inside Claude, TomeScout also packs the seven boxes for you and checks your whole listing. Connect it free. Pricing your book? Try the KDP royalty calculator.
